Pick of the Week – Bliss Glamour Gloves and Softening Socks

This photo really is me. I am enormously, and possibly disproportionately, fond of soft skin. There is little more off-putting when shaking hands than a calloused, rough paw. Well, perhaps a damp male hand or weak grip is worse, but that is a whole other article. Suffice to say I think that for a woman, soft is the thing.

When I found my hands seemed parched more often than hand cream could quench their thirst, I turned to these Glamour Gloves, and they have remedied them.

Aside from the hideously blue shade, they are also rather hideous in texture when you put your hand inside their murky depths. They are gelatinous and a little cool. Persevere – good things are to come.

My hands are now silken once more and ready to be shaken. The Softening Socks are equally as rewarding and, when worn for 20 minute stints, even allow moisture to permeate the little cracks I struggle to rub oil into.

If you are a little light of pocket and want something similar, try the Body Shop’s Thirsty Hands Cotton Gloves and Thirsty Feet Cotton Socks. Essentially these are just cotton gloves to slip on over a thick slathering of moisturiser, but, unlike the Bliss versions, aren’t lined with any sort of miraculously moist gel. They work particularly well overnight, although you might want to spare a thought for your bedfellow. See my friend in them to understand how they call Michael Jackson to mind. That aside, they do the job.
