Pick of the Week – Sarah Chapman Discovery Collection

Sarah Chapman’s Skinesis range was something I had been dying to try for a while. The problem is that with skincare, you need to test something on your skin before buying in, really. Given that all of Chapman’s products are on the more expensive side of the skincare market, I wanted to sample some before throwing a whole lot of money at them.

This is where the Discovery Collection triumphs. It claims to be the perfect jet set kit and probably is, if you’re really jet set. I’d imagine some of Chapman’s clients are and, when I went away to Hampshire for the weekend, this was handy. If you’re not really very jet set, it’s an ideal kit for testing how the products work for you and, at £40 (providing enough skincare for at least two weeks), it ain’t too dear.

It comes in a little leather pouch (what to do with it after I’ve finished the products baffles me, but I sense it may be good for something, hoarders) and contains three slim (15ml) tubes containing the cult Ultimate Cleanse, Age-Repair Serum and Dynamic Defence. All three were quite something but, if I had to invest in one, it would be the serum. It’s amazing. It smooths on perfectly and sinks straight in – great if you don’t like going to bed with a greasy face. I loved the cleanser and the dynamic defence (basically a great day moisturiser with SPF), too. The only downside is that to maximise the efficacy of the cleanser you apparently need to buy the cleansing mitt, which isn’t included. It’s a brilliant mitt, but you could easily use a damp flannel to take off the cleanser if you didn’t want to splurge too much.

So there we have it – a perfect weekend purchase if ever there was one to get your skin in tip-top shape, and see if Chapman’s range is for you. If Sienna Miller, Naomi Watts, Queen Rania of Jordan and Jemma Kidd all put their faces in Sarah’s hands, I think you ought to at least give her a shot with yours.
