Dermalogica Skin Treatment £60
This is the place for you if you want a facial which will make a difference to your skin.
On walking in to the Lancer Square branch I was rather excited to see a glass room filled with corporate sorts behind the shopping area and thought by George do they take this beauty business seriously! Turns out that it is a space for hire and the meeting was a Spanish class, not a bunch of boffins talking about banishing bad skin.
Once safely in the treatment room (there is only one so you’ll need to book in advance) I was asked all sort of probing questions about my skincare regime and what results I would like from the treatment, which was a refreshing change – everything is catered to your skin and desired result.
It all starts with skin mapping after a double cleanse. Skin is looked at under a bright light and magnifying glass (terrifying but this is the worst bit of it all and a necessary evil) and then divided into zones before they give you the lowdown on what you need to do going forward and what the facial will entail. It is detailed and I was left with the glorious sense that someone really was going to sort my pesky gripes out once and for all. They give you your skin map and ‘prescription’ afterwards so no need to remember the finicky details.
Although facials are by nature relaxing (this may just be me – being touched just seems to soothe so I could apply this even to a leg wax – perhaps I oughtn’t admit to that), this one isn’t designed to send you into a state of slumber. It uses gadgets and active ingredients and really, really is designed for results.
And what results it achieves. I wanted my skin to be brightened and cleaned up and that is exactly what I got. The icing on the cake is the price. It is very reasonable for a 60 minute treatment with therapists with this degree of expertise. The cherry on the icing on the cake is that you can pop in whenever you’d like to have your skin ‘mapped’ and steamed and doused in treats from the ‘product pool’. For free. Heavenly.
